About the game

Aurora Swing

Aurora Swing is a one-touch swinging game under the northern lights. A cheerful little adventurer in a red bobble hat and scarf travels across a Nordic fjord at night by grabbing glowing star lanterns that hang in the sky. Below you are snowy mountains, cabins with warm windows and the dark, icy water of the fjord. The course never ends, so every run is a chase for a new best distance. Collect golden sparks, chain lantern grabs into combos and see how far you can fly before you splash into the fjord.

How to play

Hold anywhere on the screen to grab the nearest lantern. Your rope snaps on and you start to swing like a pendulum, keeping your speed through the bottom of the arc. Let go to fly. The best moment to let go is on the upswing, when you are moving forward and up, because that sends you far ahead. Release at just the right angle with plenty of speed and you get a Perfect release with an extra boost. Grab the next lantern before you fall and keep going. Each grab in a row raises your combo, and from a combo of five every spark you collect is worth double. Your distance is your score. When you fall into the water the run ends with a big splash, and the results show your distance, sparks, top combo and how many lanterns you grabbed.

Controls

  • Phone/tablet: Press and hold anywhere to grab a lantern and swing, release to let go and fly.
  • Desktop: Hold the mouse button, Space, Enter or the Up arrow to grab, release to fly.
  • Press Esc or P to pause and M to mute. The pause and sound buttons are also in the top corner.

Tips

  1. Let go a little after the lowest point of the swing, while you are still rising. Letting go too late sends you upward instead of forward.
  2. Do not grab again right away. Wait until you are near the next lantern so the rope pulls you into a fresh, fast swing.
  3. Long, smooth swings are better than many short ones. The speed you carry from one swing to the next is what makes long runs possible.
  4. Keep your combo alive past five so every spark counts twice, and aim your flights through the lines of sparks.
  5. If you are dropping toward the water, grab the nearest lantern immediately. A short, safe swing is better than a splash.
